Mailbox

Chat is fine when the other player is online. For everything else ("I left some iron in the chest, come grab it", "meet at the village on Saturday"), there's the mailbox: you write, they read it when they log in.

Crafting it

A chest surrounded by eight sheets of paper. Nothing rare, you can make one before your first night.

Placing it

Put it in front of your house, like a real one. It registers in your name ("Mailbox registered!") and the mod remembers where it is. If you break it, your address goes with it.

Good to know. You can only write to players who have placed a mailbox. Tell your friends to craft one, otherwise you'll get "This player has no mailbox!".

Writing

Right-click your mailbox, Write tab:

1. Find the recipient in the list, or type their name in the search bar.
2. Click them to select them.
3. Write your letter, then click Send. The Ctrl + Enter shortcut works too.

A green message confirms it was sent.

Reading

The Inbox tab lists what you've received and counts unread letters. Dates are easy to read: "Just now", "12 min ago", "Yesterday". Click a letter to read it, then Reply to write back without searching for the sender's name.

That's it. No carrier pigeon, no delay: the mailman is very fast.
